Winter in Dingle

Although Dingle is more usually associated with summer months with warm night, there is a wealth of activities on the Dingle Peninsula during the winter. It’s relatively mild, thanks to the salty sea air with the temperature averaging around 8 Celsius- 46 Fahrenheit during the winter months.

Marvel at the wild atlantic waves from the warmth of the many pubs and cafés around the Slea Head Drive. The wind gusts in and whips the waves up to magnificent heights and you are far less likely to be caught behind a traffic jam of buses. It’s like you have the whole Peninsula to yourself to enjoy

Take advantage of the clear crisp days to explore the Dingle Peninsula on foot. There’s a wealth of walks to choose from including the Dingle Way and Cósán na Naoimh. Do you prefer short hikes, long distance hiking trails or a meander along some of the most beautiful beaches in the world? Dingle has it all as well as a range of walks to suit many abilities and distances.

Great conviviality is never far away on the Peninsula. Push open the door in any small pub and you’ll meet friendly people and often a mighty music session might be going on too. With festivals galore and a choice of cafés and restaurants, you’re never far from a warm cuppa or fascinating story tellers.
